Who am I?

Welcome to Tactile Teaching and thank you for visiting my blog!

I am a Qualified Teacher of Children with Vision Impairments (QTVI) in the UK and am passionate about sharing ideas, resources and strategies for enabling blind and vision impaired children and young people to access the National Curriculum. Alongside this, I facilitate and deliver their specialist curriculum in line with the Curriculum Framework for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (CFVI).

I work with children and young people from 0-25 years old, in UK mainstream settings and family homes, to support teaching and learning of braille, adapting a tactile curriculum, use of assistive technology and visual stimulation. Prior to this I was a SENCO and a classroom teacher for 15 years.

Having been in this role for 5 years and spending hours searching the internet for simple websites with plenty of photos, to find braille and tactile teaching ideas, I decided to create tactile-teaching.com. With this, I hope that I am able to bring a range of ideas, resources and experiences to support other professionals and families supporting blind and vision impaired children and young people.
